The First 5 Minutes: Where Outcomes Are Decided

Before sirens.

Before command structure.
Before official response.

There are the first 5 minutes.

And those minutes often belong to:

  • Bystanders
  • Volunteers
  • The untrained who choose to act

This is where outcomes begin.

What happens in those moments matters more than people realize:

  • Airway support
  • Bleeding control
  • Positioning
  • Awareness

If responders arrive and ignore what has already been done, they risk undoing critical early care.

Integration is not optional—it’s essential.

Because the first 5 minutes are not a gap in the system.

They are the foundation.
